BET AWARDS: USHER NO SHOW

Posted on Sunday, June 28th, 2009 at 10:14 pm

Usher arrives at the LA's Best Annual Brunch at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel on June 7, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.

Usher was not able to make it to the awards after much anticipation of him doing the Michael Jackson Tribute. His camp issued this statement….

“It is with regret that I am unable to participate in the BET Awards Tribute to Michael Jackson on June 28th. When the BET Awards producers and organizers reached out to me to participate in the tribute, I was extremely flattered and humbled by the opportunity to pay tribute to the world’s greatest musical icon. Unfortunately, I am currently overseas and would not make it back in time to the Awards show. I look forward to seeing the show and I plan to work on a tribute to Michael Jackson when I return.”

No Chris Brown AND No Usher for the tribute…..wow what a disappointment.

Interesting that he was not planning to go to the show this year. I’m slightly intrigued in knowing how artists decide when they are going to attend awards shows (well besides when they have something to promote).

well aint that a B!@#h, this aint like this was a ragedy car dealership grand opening that they needed him to come by and cut the ribbon, this was a tribute to MICHAEL JACKSON, if there was ever an occasion to drop everything and participate in than this, I HIGHLY DOUBT what usher is doing overseas is BIGGER, HONORING and MORE IMPORTANT than doing this for MJ, even if he is doing something over there for his career this is way bigger for him and was a HUGE LET DOWN for his fans, the fans wanted this more than whatever your doing over there. your music can wait, this is the worst career move since he married Tameka lol

Personally I think he took a stand against BET’s not wanting to use Chris Brown. See great talent only ses talent. Not that all else should be forgotten but the world could have forgotten for a 10 minute perfomance. This was so much bigger than Chris v. Rihanna. How does that overshadow the death of the King. Put the boy on stage let him RIP THE STAGE then go back to being mad at him afterwards. I guarantee you the GRammys would have let him rock!

Its a good thing he wasn’t there, then he would be a part of the worse BET AWARDS show ever, that show sucked. It was an embarrasment to Michael Jackson, his FANS, BET, and especially the Jackson Family.

And the stars who did hit up the stage did a terrible job.

God does things for reasons and it was meant for BET to celebrate the life of MJ first. I know they had very few days to put something together, but Deborah Lee is out of her element. With great disappointment worldwide of what viewers had to sit through and watch. How could you pay tribute to an entertainer who sang and DANCED, but did hardly any dancing. Chris’ personal life has nothing to do with his artistry. The ONLY one who would have done him justice is CB. That’s where BET fucked up. Politics is a frightening thing. (it’s funny how we still haven’t seen the beaten CB mug shot.. Rhi Rhi needs felony charges too. Double standards isn’t a good look)

The bible says there are many gods and lords but only one Jehovah. So when you speak of “god” doing things for a reason you must be talking about Satan because he’s the only god that would care. The God of the bible (Jehovah) nor his son (Jesus) would have absolutly nothing to do with the B.E.T. awards and how they were presented. Not only that, you actually used the “F” word in the same paragraph that you try to envoke your god in. Ooooooooh! Tisk tisk!!!

Everyone if BET did ban Chris (and I don’t believe that story about Jay-z having something to with it)then BET is going to look well… ridiculous because whn MTV have their MTV awards this year they are going to put on an awesome MJ tribute and Chris and Usher will be there..showing up and showing out with great reviews and ratings for the show and their careers…the performance will be great..Watch and see!!
