BET MOMENTS: Fabulous and Awkward
Jamie Foxx’s imitation of Michael Jackson had me in stitches. He moonwalked backwards across stage as part of his own personal tribute to the King. But he tripped halfway across, only to recover and finish the feat. His pants were so tight he may wake up with a yeast infection today.
Beyonce sang “Ave Maria”, a song from her album. Her voice and rendition were ever so fabulous. But the song choice seemed inappropriate for the night. Most viewers were expecting a tribute song to Michael. Her white costume had many wondering if she was going to heaven or getting married….perhaps getting married in heaven.
One of the highlights of the evening was the OJAY tribute. Tyrese, Johnny Gill and Trey Songz killed it!!!
Ving Rhames put the entire audience on edge when his “Baby Boy” spoof went awry. “Everyone repeat after me, BET is Guns, Michael Jackson is guns” wtf????

The audience in the Shrine Auditorium was silenced when Janet Jackson walked out to thank the fans for their support of her brother. It was heartwrenching to see her fight back the tears. Yes Janet! Michael will be missed.
Maxwell rocked the house…looking and sounding better than ever!!!! I would have loved to see him sing a Michael joint. Lawd knows he can hit those high notes.
The biggest WTF??? moment of the night came during Drake and Lil Wayne’s performance of “Every Girl”. TI and Lil Wayne’s pre teen daughters joined the fellas on the stage during the performance. I am still fuming at the IG-NANCE of having 10 year olds on stage singing “I just wanna F every girl in the world”.
Keysha Cole and Monica performed and in my opinion Monica sang Keysha under the bus!!!!!!! But they both looked wonderful. I’m happy the two are able to support each other without the cattiness.

Yeah, Monica did outperform Keyshia on her own song (LOL). I got so sick of Jamie Foxx last night and its not like he has a great voice, Beyonce (BORING), but I guess she wasn’t SASA FIERCE last night. Love Maxwell, and I didnt’ even notice those were their daughters. U know T.I. never would have gone for that, but Tiny yeah.

Ave Maria was out of place, Jamie killed it, CiCi sang a slow song instead of dancing, what she is known for, but the show was for Neyo and Jamie. What about, CB and Mariah? MTV will definitely do a MJ tribute justice. DISAPPOINTED!

Iz y’all niggaz stupid? Mike just died on Thursday 6/25/09. This show was not supposed to be dedicated to Mike Jack first off. Jamie did a heck of a Job for someone that was working by the seat of his pants. Now, if they would have opted not to try to put all that Mike Jack stuff in the show you all would be talking crazy about then not doing anything to remember Mike….

My sister missed her performance so when she came back I started trying to explain the performance. I was like she had on a leotard and robe at first then she changed into a really strange sheer/see-through tu tu / wedding dress thing with the veil and tiara to match and she was singing that song they always sing on those commercials when the kids are hungry and flies are everywhere! (Note: I’m not saying this to be funny but I didn’t know of any other way to explain the song). I was so confused as to why she was singing that so I asked is that a MJ song? Honestly I like Beyonce as a performer but last night was totally a WTF moment for me with her and it looked like she didn’t comb her hair!
Last night BET didn’t rise to the occasion. If they didn’t have enough time to put something meaningful together they should have done a tribute video of all his grand moments and performances as wells as his BET award performance. Then did a tribute video of all the difference people saying what MJ meant to them! Plus no one even song any of his most memorable songs! I wasn’t happy wit the awards at all and Jamie Foxx is starting to seem like he has sugar in his tank! Plus BET needs to be boycotted its like they only want to show us in a negative light! Come on Neffy and franky, tiny & toya! Really BET!!?? The only good thing about last night to me was they honored some positive blacks like the Dr.’s, students and mayor! Sorry for the long rant

I thought maybe growing up, Beyonce, missed her first communion so she made up for it singing Ave Maria and changing into a white hoop skirt and veil..I didn’t get it..I mean heck what else could it be!!
When she won for Best Female R&B, she said this is for Michael…huh!
For a short notice…the show was ok…most people had an agenda and this nite was to promote and hawk what they were selling…new music…concert tickets…that’s fine…because better tributes are on the way…and next year BET will be even better…watch and see…Jay-z really rocked it…Maxwell…Tyreese, Johnny Gill and Trey Songz…The OJays were fabulous…Beyonce did sing beautifully, inappropriately dress…a bathing suit with a religious song…tacky…must we use sex to sell everything…spare us sometime…there’s not much kids can watch…our children are exposed to way too much sexual content…black performers need to take more responsibility for what they express…we don’t have the safety nets and cable tv is our number one form of entertainment…many parents allow their kids to watch what they watch…that’s the only complaint I really have singers and soft porn…that goes for all of them…we need to stop killing ourselves whether with guns or sex… if a pictures says a thousand words, then what must a 5 minute video say…ummmmm?
First, it was inappropriate for TPayne (Wayne) or whatever his name is to bring alcholol on the stage. It was inappropriate for BET staff to allow those men to wear their pants below their azz knowing that kids would be watching. Is this what we stand for (cursing, alcohol, pants sagging??!?!?!?) SAD, such a waste of air time. However, BET’s performance wasn’t a shock to me. I hope MTV will come through. SMH
I havent’ seen the BET Awards yet (thanks for ruining it lol) I’ll watch it tonight. However, thoes girls on the stage with Lil Wane and Drake did look a lil young. Come on black people get it together!
B.E.T. you could have done betta. You have done betta in the past and I expected more from ya’ll. The Michael Jackson tribute was nice, but I believe that they should have just left everything the way it was before he died and do a show just for Michael Jackson, I believe it would have done more justice and celebrities like Usher could have come and showed their support to the King of Pop. I heard a rumor that Beyonce wanted to come out singing “Never can say Goodbye” but, BET said they wanted to keep the show upbeat. With that being said, Beyonce was not the only performer that did not do a Michael Jackson song. So, lay off with the “selfish comments.”
