Michael Jackson BET Awards Tribute Line Up
It looks like the powers that be over at BET have heard our requests. (Shouts to GQ)
The good news is that Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce , Neyo, Jay-Z will all be on hand to pay Tribute to Michael Jackson.
Usher is said to have reached out to them immediately and is rushing back to LA to be part of the show. Beyonce and Ne-Yo have also edited their sets to pay tribute.
The not so good news is that The Dream will also be singing as part of the tribute….jokes!
The awards air Sunday night, live from the Shrine Auditorium in LA.
Some folks are wondering how/ why Beyonce is performing in the tribute. Perhaps this explains it…
Beyonce calls Michael Jackson her all time idol and has taken his death to heart. She performed this tribute on stage last night at one of her concert stops.

It’s NOT about Chris Brown the person it’s about Chris Brown the talent. I have been up since 6am comparing live performance videos. Chris hands down is the only artist that can nearly match the natural movement and charismatic dance style of MJ. Usher is NOT a natural dancer all his moves come off as machanical an nether is Ne-yo! Show wise Chris is the best of the bunch but still light years behind Mike. Chris if you’re reading this young brother….to be at that level will take for more commitment and dedication than you can ever imagine. It will mean shedding friends, allegiances to producers, and developing a new standard within developing the music, showmanship, and artistry of an MJ. You have the raw talent. Be smart and reach out to the Quincy Jones’s, the Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jams, and even the entire team that made MJ look so good. The balladeer shows are too easy for you. Challenge your own talent and style. Be different but keep the base common. Quick note: The key ingredient to MJ’s show style is that not 1 second is wasted doing nothing. Every second he’s entertaining. When he moves alot goes on from his hands, feet, head, and arms. His moves are striking, commanding, and charismattic. For now people will love to hate you and rightfully but all is forgotten when your talent is greater than your issues. DOn’t so the obvious take a good look at MJ’s style. It’s pure, honest, and true to him. Take the approach that your tribute is NOT copying his moves but celebrating his talent through yours. be Chris Brown but do it for MIKE! Send our brother off right homie! BIG CITY!

‘Big City’, that was some deep stuff, you touched on ALL of the relative points with a cogency that’s as penetrating as could be!! MJ had his issues, and he OVERCAME ‘em, so WILL CB, he copped to that charge not only to end a nightmare, but more so to save Rhianna; that boy laid down for Rhianna, it’s obvious he still has feelings for her!
When judging him, I just hope ya’ll take THAT into consideration, K? If he wanted to, he could have forced her to testify, THEN Rhianna’s role would be known, even TMZ said it, she hit him first with the cell phone and was VERY Aggressive in that car on Feb 8th! Don’t you think his mug shots showed HIS injuries too? He could have had her testify, THEN as soon as she stepped off the stand copped to the charge! That ALONE would have ended her endorsements – no more the saint the mainstream would see her as!
Just as WE forgave MJ, I hope we can forgive CB too, the mainstream…YT, that is, will always have their doubts – to hell with ‘em I say! Even now, they’re talking bout all of the false accusations, they just had to find something, some dirt, to throw on the king of pop. Adding CB to ‘A’ tribute to MJ ON BET is the only sane thing they could have done; I’m really disappointed that Justin Timberlake will have any part of it; will HE apologize to Janet????

Very well said! I’m glad that someone was honest and is truly offering words of wisdom to Chris Brown. PLEASE forward your post to Chris Brown’s people or whomever can get your message to him. It is definitely the key to his longevity in the business. BET did a good thing by having this young man perform. And I know Michael is smiling down from heaven, finally getting the acceptance he has so longed for.

Oh and MJJ was far more than just a great dancer. So for dancing sure Chris has that but all of the other things that made up MJJ’s career, I don’t need to hear anymore comparisons.
I wish the best for this tribute. I know folks have been working around the clock to pull this off. But to be fair, they didn’t have much time so I just expect them to give their love and whatever they do and it will show.
I was never a fan of Chris Brown, i always thought he was an over grown spoiled child who behaved accordingly and then after the incident it just reinforced my thoughts on him…with that said…there are no other, NONE artist over the last 20 years whose act shows the influence of MJ more than Chris Brown…and with the death of MJ, it shows that we have to separate the artists from the human…i still will never ever buy a Chris Brown song nor a ticket to a concert BUT no tribute to MJ should be done without him…it is fitting and perhaps this experience will mature him & put life in perspective for him….he needs to be raised properly….i hope the Game/PDiddy et. al. will perform “Better on the other side” because that song is bloody brilliant!!! I only watched the BET Awards the first year and have not watched it since.. but will be watching tomorrow just to see the tributes, so i hope they wont disappoint…..this will be their largest audience yet…i know advertisers are kicking themselves now(hey we are a capitalist country..we make money anyhow ) because they miss a golden opportunity to reach the audience…its also fitting that Jaime Foxx is hosting…i cannot think of any other who will be able to balance the mood of fun and sadness more than him and do it eloquently ….
BTW-Why is Beyonce a part of it? If her then why not any other female…let me guess she won’t perform if they perform…..

I am so glad for the opportunity to hear and see Chris Brown again. All these wanna be Chris Brown acts have been quite annoying. OK Chris is no Michael Jackson but he certainly has MAJOR talent and most important the man WRITES his own music. Neyo is GREAT in his own way but he does not appear to be a natural dancer. Chris is mutiple ( dancer, singer, writer, actor and has charisma). I hope this horrible situation was a lesson for him to protect his career no matter what.

I totally agree with Ayesha. Why the hell is Justin Timberlake a part of the BET awards?? I hear a lot of people comparing him to MJJ and they are so wrong for that. MJJ was a genius and an innovator for pop music. Justin Timberlake is a wanna-be that will NEVER be as good as Michael.
