Atlanta-based rapper Dolla, born Roderick Anthony Burton II, was fatally gunned down outside of the Beverly Center in Los Angeles this afternoon. According to reports, the slain rapper’s publicist claims that he was shot in the head at approximately 3:10 pm while waiting in the valet area of the mall’s parking entrance on La Cienega Boulevard.

Shortly after the shooting, a man was detained at LAX International Airport while trying to board a flight. However, witnesses on the scene allege that it was actually a woman that pulled the trigger.

Dolla was signed to Akon’s Konvict Muzik imprint and reportedly recording his debut disc, Dolla & A Dream.

UPDATE!!!  SUSPECT NOW IN CUSTODY

A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of rapper Dolla – we’ve learned he goes by the name Aubery Berry. Sources say after the shooting, the LAPD put out an alert that the suspect may have fled to the Los Angeles International Airport in an attempt to fly out of the city.  LAX police spotted a man who matched the description, sitting in the lobby area of Terminal 1. Cops approached Berry and almost immediately he said he knew why cops were there and then raised his hands and told them he had a 9 millimeter handgun in his waistband.

yeah i heard about this but it’s really just sinking in. i really was pulling for him to succeed and make something of himself. he hasn’t even lived a full life. i know i had to be on his side because too many of us youngins in the same situation, coming from broken homes and trying to make our way. this is HORRIBLE news. i hope they caught the people who did this.
