George Zimmerman Wishes He Didn’t Kill Trayvon Martin, But Says It Was “God’s Plan”

George Zimmerman, the accused man in the murder of Trayvon Martin, said the whole “experience” has really opened his eyes to a lot but said he wouldn’t have done anything differently that night.

Back in February, Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighborhood watch coordinator, shot and killed an unarmed 17-year-old Martin. Zimmerman says Trayvon was acting suspiciously and has claimed self defense. In April he was charged with second degree murder, to which he plead not guilty to.

In his first interview since the incident, Zimmerman told Fox News’ Sean Hannity,

When I was in jail, I was in solitary confinement and I had a lot of time to think and reflect. It’s a tragic situation and I hope it’s the most difficult thing I’ll have to go through in my life.

I feel that it was all God’s plan. I do wish that there was something, anything I could have done that would have put me in the position that I wouldn’t have to take his life. I’m sorry that this happened. I hate to think that because of this incident, because of my actions, that it’s polarized and divided America.”

Zimmerman did offer his condolences to Martin’s family.

I am sorry that they buried their child. I can’t imagine what it must feel like. I pray for them daily.”

This morning, Martin’s mom and dad were on the Today ShowCBS This Morning, and Fox & Friends to express their disgust with Zimmerman’s interview. Sybina Fulton said,

Why would God have him to kill an unarmed teenager? I mean, it just makes no sense. What plan is it? I mean, that’s just heartless to say that that was God’s plan that he took our child’s life.”

Currently, Zimmerman is free on bond and is awaiting trial.

Florida Judge Sets George Zimmerman Bond at $1M

In what may be to some a shocking decision, Florida Judge Kenneth Lester does not believe George Zimmerman is a threat to the community and set his bail at $1Million.

This court does not fear that the defendant would pose a threat to others in the community if released.”

In the past month, this is the second time that Judge Lester has given Zimmerman the opportunity to post bail. If he posts 10%, he is free to go, but the Judge has not forgotten about all of the lying- withholding a second passport, as well as having a large bank account.

By any definition, the defendant has flaunted the system.”

Zimmerman must check in with in the Florida pre-trial release department every 48 hours, not drink alcohol, and not contact Trayon Martin’s family. He must stay away from the airport and cannot leave Seminole County, as he will be wearing electronic monitoring.

Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder for shooting and killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin on February 26th. It is unclear if he will be able to post the money.

Supreme Court Upholds Obama’s Health Care Law

The United States Supreme Court has upheld President Obama’s health care legislation in a historic ruling of 5-4. This decision is extremely important as it will have both an immediate and long-term impact on all Americans and how they receive medicine as well as health care.

Chief Justice John Roberts announced the decision that allows the law to go forward with its aim of covering more than 30 million uninsured Americans.

Obama was in Atlanta yesterday and told his supporters,

They understand we don’t need to re-fight this battle over health care. It’s not the right thing to do that we’ve got three million young people who are on their parents health insurance plans that didn’t have it before. It’s the right thing to do to give seniors discounts on their prescription drugs. It’s the right thing to do to give 30 millions Americans health insurance that didn’t have it before.”

The health care law won’t take full effect until 2014.

My First Week at V103 Atlanta Was FIRE!

Well I made the move! It’s been one huge whirlwind. On Thursday January 12th I gave birth to my daughter Kendall. Four weeks after my c-section I was packing my house to prepare for my new chapter in Atlanta. I learned a serious lesson in this experience…..NEVER EVER EVER EVER try to move cross country right after having a baby. I must have thought I was superwoman or something. A sister is worn OUT!!! loll

Nevertheless, I’m excited about this new phase in my career. Atlanta is a beauuuuutiful city with charming people. V103 is a Monster station so this is a big moment. I gotta thank everyone who came out to welcome me to ATL….

Brandy, Monica, Marsha Ambrosius, Musiq Soulchild, Rozanda “Chilli” Thomas, Keith Sweat, Nelly, Toya Wright, Trina Braxton, Waka Flaka Flame, Dr. Steven Perry, Nicole Paultre-Bell, Mona Scott Young and More lent their support for my midday radio show, “On Air With Egypt,”from 10 am- 2 pm.

Marsha Ambrosius called in to not only welcome but me, but revealed that she is hard at work on her new album, the follow up to the Grammy Nominated, “Late Nights Early Mornings.”

Reality TV Star/Author, Toya Wright, “called out” Grammy Award nominated Atlantic Records recording artist, Musiq Soulchild, for standing her up at her wedding to Memphitz Wright. She said Musiq was supposed to sing at the ceremony. I had Musiq give Toya a “make good” with an impromptu serenade live on the air of his smash record “Love.”

Music Superproducer Jazze Pha weighed in on who he thought should play the roles of Whitney Houston & Bobby Brown in a movie about their lives. He also played a new music exclusive from his new artist, Gasner Allen.

Keith Sweat and I led a conversation about President Obama’s recent visit to ATL and the racist bumper stickers that are now being sold in Obama’s name. “Don’t Re-NIG in 2012,” “Lincoln freed the slaves and now Obama is enslaving the free.”

Nelly & Chilli gave their opinions on a phenomenon that has been discussed at length: “Why women can’t seem to find Mr. Right in Atlanta.”

Trina Braxton, Demetria McKinney and I shared details about our childbirth stories. PUUUUUSSSSHHHHH!!! lolol…

Veteran music executive turned reality television producer, Mona Scott Young joined my show to discuss the upcoming season of “Love And Hip Hop: ATL.” She also confirmed that the original cast of “Love And Hip Hop” would have another season, but perhaps Chrissy would not be joining them. Mona eluded that Chrissy and Jim Jones were working on a spin off of the show. She also mentioned that she’d like to possibly do “Love And Hip Hop” Cali next!

Rap’s Most Buzzworthy Newcomer, Waka Flaka Flame, and I laughed about some of the jobs we had as teenagers. I revealed that I used to be Chuck E Cheese in high school…..now that everyone knows that I’ve gotta kill ya! hehehe

This past Thursday I was the host of an exclusive V-103 “Soul Sessions” performance and Q&A session with R&B stars, Brandy and Monica.

Nicole Paultre-Bell, fiance of slain New York City groom-to-be Sean Bell and Dr. Steven Perry, author and CNN education contributor, each called in to share their thoughts on the Trayvon Martin killing. And I witnessed the most amazing thing……6,000 students from Clark, Morehouse, Spellman and Georgia Tech rallied on the steps of  Georgia Capital Building for the “I AM TRAYVON MARTIN” RALLY.

This is only the beginning…

“On Air With Egypt” can now be heard daily Monday-Friday from 10 am-2 pm on 103.5 FM in Atlanta and via the internet at www.V-103.com.

Vesta Williams Cause of Death Revealed

The question has been lingering as to what caused the death of R&B singer Vesta Williams, who died in her sleep in a California hotel room on Sept. 22, 2011. We have now learned that the beloved singer passed away from complications of an enlarged heart. The Williams family was given the autopsy report a “day or two ago” according to R&B singer Norwood Young.

“Although it’s a sad situation overall, it’s great news to find that Vesta’s death, as I said from the very beginning, was not drug related. Vesta did indeed die from an enlarged heart. As we know, an enlarged heart can remain undetected in the body for many, many years” tells Norwood. “One thing about an enlarged heart, eight out of 10 deaths are sudden.”

Young said that obesity and stress may have also contributed to the beloved 53-year-old R&B singer’s untimely death. In recent years, Vesta had battled with a drug problem and obesity. She beat both–and lost 100 pounds.

Well it’s good to know her death wasn’t drug related. I’d hate to see Vesta go out like that. This news could not come at a more appropriate time because I hear that TV One is scheduled to kick off a series of “Unsung” specials that will air on January 2, 2012 at 10pm Eastern time, highlighting Vesta’s career and music.
