This past weekend I attended the Pursuit of Dreams’ 2011 Minority Mentorship Symposium, founded by the lovely Coach Beverly Kearney on the campus of Texas University in Austin, Texas. The weekend featured distinguished individuals from the sports, entertainment, corporate, political and academic arenas from around the country. If you are not familiar with Bev, she is one of the most successful and decorated coaches across all of collegiate athletics, Beverly Kearney is in her 18th season as the women’s track and field and cross country head coach at The University of Texas. Not to mention she taught herself how to walk again after a paralyzing car accident back in 2002. Phenomenal Lady!!!

I was honored, along with several other women, receiving the Divine Diva award from Bev’s “Pursuit of Dreams” Foundation for our philanthropic efforts and distinguished careers.

The legendary Eddie Levert also stopped by to show his support.

MC Lyte, Bev, and LeToya Luckett were there and struck a pose with Cookie Johnson at her Neiman Marcus in-store for her chic jean clothing line.

To close off the weekend, we all partied at Bev’s house where Tank and Letoya Luckett performed. Check it out…..

Over the weekend Nicki Minaj got a tad bit “frisky” with a female fan in Atlanta during Lil Wayne’s “I Am Still Music Tour.”  In an effort to show her “girls” some love, she shocked the crowd with a jaw-dropping lap dance and grabbed the chick’s poom poom.

It’s official Nicki Minaj will join Britney Spears on her summer tour…..

The pink Barbie will replace Enrique Iglesias, who pulled out last month, and will strut hand-in-hand with Spears on a 26-date tour which kicks off June 17th in Sacramento, California

Hmm…this should be interesting!

Minaj is currently on tour with Lil Wayne for his “I Am Still Music” tour.

Last night Steve Harvey and his beautiful wife Marjorie, along with Sheri Shephard hosted his 2nd annual Steve Harvey Foundation Gala at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

This year’s gala honored the amazing playwright/actor, Tyler Perry, Alan Mulally (President and CEO of Ford Motor Company), comedian Chris Rock and his wife, philanthropist Malaak Rock, with the “Helping Hand Award” for their commitment to mentoring and educating children in the community.

Saxaphonist David Sanborn was the evening’s featured entertainment for guests such as LA Reid and his wife Erica…

Angela and Russell Simmons..

Ms. Gayle King…

Cynthia Bailey from Real Housewives of Atlanta…

and of course, the lovely Shirley Strawberry…

President Obama’s campaign announced he’s running for re-election in a 2 minute web video via, BarackObama.com. The site was also updated with a “2012″  logo and a video that featured grassroots activists.

The message does not feature the President himself, but instead five average people advocating for him and his politics.

Obama says that this will be his last race of sorts:

This will be my final campaign, at least as a candidate. But the cause of making a lasting difference for our families, our communities, and our country has never been about one person. And it will succeed only if we work together.

Bigger is always better and television host Niecy Nash proved just that recently when she threw an over the top, star studded bridal shower to celebrate her upcoming wedding to fiancé Jay Tucker.

Celeb friends like Holly Robinson-Peete, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Kym Whitley and Eva Marcille came dressed to the nines for Niecy’s “Big Hats and Fabulous Pumps: A GLAMTASTIC Bridal Shower.”

Guests took to the stage to strut their stuff in a mini fashion show and Niecy enjoyed a steamy serenade from Steph Jones and even a special surprise from her soon to be hubby.

Bride-to-be Niecy gushed:

I was a divorced mother of three children and worried that a good man would be hard to find. I decided to believe that God’s best for me was going to show up…and it did! My guy is amazing! Not a perfect man, but definitely perfect for me!”
