March 9th is “Biggie Day”

Today is the 13th anniversary of the shooting death of Notorious BIG…

In honor of his late homie BIG, Sean “Diddy” Combs is throwing a party at The Lab in Biggie’s native Brooklyn, New York.

Diddy recently told MTV:

“It’s gonna be the first time I’m throwing a party in Brooklyn. I’m from Harlem. Everybody in Harlem knows you don’t usually go over the bridge to Brooklyn. It’s a big, big deal… I’m going over there to pay respect to my man… March 9th is Biggie Day.”

Today MTV Jams will be playing non-stop Biggie videos, as well as clips from other fallen music stars, including Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Aaliyah and Big Pun. 

Can you believe even after all these years Biggie’s murder remains unsolved???

Precious Was A KNOCKOUT!

Precious rocked this weekend…

Kicking off the weekend right, Precious was the big winner at Friday’s Independent Spirit Awards. The film took Best Feature, Best Director (Lee Daniels), Best Actress (Gabourey Sidibe), Best Supporting Actress (Mo’Nique) and Best First Screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher).

…Monique also won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

And if that wasn’t enough…Writer Of Precious Makes History!

Geoffrey Fletcher made history last night becoming the first African American to win an Oscar for screenwriting. Almost in tears, Geoff dedicated his speech to any and everyone that has impacted his life. He said,“This is for Precious boys and girls everywhere!” He has also been labeled one of the top 10 screenwriters to watch by Variety Magazine!

Although Gabby did not walk away with an Oscar, she sure is a winner in all of our hearts…especially in Oprah’s!

During the Oscars, Oprah announced:

“When we look at you, we see a true American Cinderella, on the threshold of a brilliant new career. Precious is but the first of many adjectives coming your way. And they are all great. Congratulations, Gabby Sidibe.”

Now usually Oprah gets what she wants, but she wasn’t so lucky last night. According to an interview with People Magazine,  Oprah asked Gabby if she could she could accompany her to the Oscars and got SHUT DOWN!

Gabby says:

“Oprah called me and was like, ‘Hey girl, do you want to ride together?’ I was like, ‘I got it Oprah, calm down. I don’t want to show up with you. People will think we’re too cool.”

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Get your shine on!

Naomi Campbell: Fashion for Relief T-shirts!

Supermodel Naomi Campbell may be “crazy” but she sure knows how to make a difference…

Naomi teamed up with London designer Vivienne Westwood to open a pop-up show selling design official t-shirts in aid of “Fashion for Relief” at Westfield. The T-shirts, which were unveiled last week at Naomi Campbell’s spectacular Fashion for Relief show, highlight some of the shocking statistics that women and girls are being faced with in Haiti. All monies will be donated to ” The White Ribbon Alliance to support the health needs and rights of women and girls around the world, with particular focus on its partners in Haiti, who at this time are helping to rebuild the healthcare system for mothers and babies”, according to event planners.

Naomi says: 

“I am delighted that Westfield London has partnered with myself and the White Ribbon Alliance to support this years Fashion for Relief in London. I am very grateful to Vivienne Westwood and her team for their dedication to this project whilst they themselves were in the midst of preparing for their own fashion week show. The Fashion for Relief Pop Up Shop at Westfield London has been such a huge success and I’m looking forward to my visit to Westfield tomorrow to personally help out.”

She went on to say:

Juelz Santana Celebrates!!

I stopped by Rapper Juelz Santana’s party at M2 Lounge NYC this week. Lil Kim, Ashanti, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, DJ Clue, and Birdman were all there to wish him a happy birthday.

Everything was good until………….

You can dress em’ up but you can’t take em’ out. Why does somebody always have to mess up the party??

White Girls Won $100,000 in Stepping Contest!

Congratulations to the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha!!!

Believe it or not, but the step team of an ALL-WHITE greek sorority from Arkansas won $100, 000 dollars in a stepping contest in ATL at the Sprite Step Off Challenge.

“Word?!”

Yea, I had to rub my eyes twice just to make sure I wasn’t tripping. The girls had the choreography on point and even had some booty shakin’ at the end!

Movie Premiere: “Cop Out”

Last night action star, Bruce Willis and funny man, Tracy Morgan hit the red carpet in New York City for the premiere of their new movie “Cop Out” at AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13…

In the movie, Willis and Morgan portray NYPD partners on the chase of a stolen collector’s baseball card. 

Now what I am trying to figure is why does Tracy have on the red jump-suit like he is about to run out in traffic and cause an ACCIDENT! I must say Bruce, is keeping it GQ…I just wished Tracy got the memo!

This hilarious comedy was directed by Kevin Smith…you know the guy who got kicked off the Southwest flight because he was too fat???

…YES him!

New Years Eve Tidbits

Rumor has it Diddy is marrying Kim Porter tonight at midnight in St. Barts.

According to sources, the wedding is expected to take place this evening with close friends and family present. Unlike previous New Year’s Eves, Diddy is said to be spending this one with family and friends and won’t be throwing any lavish parties. 

When rumors circulated a few weeks ago about him popping the question to Kim Porter, Diddy denied the story. I guess we’ll know at midnight whether  this is rubbish or the real deal.

According to sources at NewYearsEve.com, Fergie and the rest of the Black Eyed Peas will be making major mula tonight. The group is taking in more than $700,000 to show up and perform at LAX at the Luxor. 50 Cent is taking in $100,000 for a party at Pure at Caesars Palace. and LMFAO is earning $75,000 to perform at a place called Silk in Temecula. But none of them top the whopping $2 million Ciara is getting to shake her money maker in Kazakhstan.

Boyz II Men Rocks The Foxwoods

On Friday WBLS NYC  hosted it’s annual Christmas Party at the MGM Grand Casino in Foxwoods Connecticut. Steve Harvey and I hosted an amazing performance by BoyzIIMen. They sound better than ever and even told the audience that Mike Mc Crary, the fourth member, may be rejoining the group very soon. The new album “Love” is in stores now. Funny how Steve and Wanya look like they could be related…..lolol.

Beyonce Throws Jay-Z’s 40th Celebration

Beyonce Threw her hubby a 40th birthday party in the Dominican Republic this weekend. Check out the details:

The party was a lavish intimate bash with an  A-List celeb filled guest list–that went down Friday night. Beyonce arranged every detail of the party at Campo de Casa. The dinner party Friday night was elegant and everyone was asked to wear 1920’s or 1940’s era frocks. Beyonce asked Jay’s friends to shoot a video that was played at dinner telling Jay how they felt about him. We’re told Kevin Liles shot his mushy BFF speech weeks before the bash back in the states.

After dinner there were synchronized swimmers and fireworks. Then the party REALLY started with Jay was dancing the whole night…and Diddy in his usual place on the mic the whole night.

The guest list was packed with Mr. Carter’s close friends and family: Diddy & Kim Porter, Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz, Kanye & Amber Rose, Solange, Lyor Cohen & Tory Burch, Alex Rodriguez & Kate Hudson, Steve Stoute, Micheal Kyser, Dream Hampton, Rich Kleinman, John Menilly, Ty Ty, Jay Brown, and Chaka and Carline. And of course, Jay’s mother-in-law Miss Tina and cousin Angie were there too. 

And the Beyonce’s good wife duties didn’t end there. The next day, Saturday, Beyonce invited everyone over to the couple’s villa for a lobster and steak brunch.

We’ll believe it when we see it, but Beyonce says she’ll take time to “stop and smell the roses” next year. The workaholic says she’ll go on hiatus in the spring of 2010. She told London’s Daily Star she might “take some art classes, I’ll visit some museums and I’ll check out some shows on Broadway… I usually…have the next year planned out. But for the first time ever, after a couple of dates in February and a couple of award shows, I promised myself that that it’s time to smell the roses. I’m going to take — hopefully — a couple of months off. I’m not going to plan anything.”….hmmmm. Does Beyonce Time Off= Maternity Leave

BTW, Beyonce is up for a whopping 10 Grammys at next month’s ceremony in Los Angeles.

JD & Janet Jackson Stronger Than Ever

I reported this about two weeks ago, but now In Touch Magazine is also reporting that Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri are planning to wed early next year. A source close to Janet says, “everyone thought they had broke up, but Jermaine was just giving Janet space to deal with death of her brother and the two never fell out of love with one another.”

JD has brushed off the wedding rumors, but reports state they are rushing the nuptials because Janet plans to raise Michael’s three children and feels it would be best for them to have a strong father figure in their life.

Speaking of Jermaine Durpi, he threw an official party introducing his watch collection in ATL. Celebrities like Big Boi, Monica, Teyana Taylor, Lance Gross, Eva Marcille, and more came out to support….

NY Jets Kerry Rhodes Charitable Foundation Hosts Black Tie Dinner

Last night my friend Kerry Rhodes presented his charity foundation’s 3rd Annual Celebrity Bash which featured a lavish dinner and silent auction at 5-star restaurant, STK in NYC.  NY Jets coach, Rex Ryan, various pro athletes and several other heavy-hitters in the sports world came out to show Kerry support.  The posh dinner was followed by a celebrity bowling party at Lucky Strikes VIP Lanes where Vivica A. Fox, as well as comedians DL Hughley and Kevin Hart all attended. Both of events were the talk of the town last night!!!

Proceeds from the evening’s festivities will go to fund educational opportunities for underprivileged children through the Kerry Rhodes Foundation.

Hennessy “Black Masquerade” Event..

On Friday I attended a private event at the Moet/ Hennessy USA office in NYC.  Eva Marcille Pigford and her beau Lance Gross were there as well as Pittsburgh Steeler Lamarr Woodley, recording artist O’Neal McKnight and the man himself Maurice Hennessy were all there to unveil “The Black Masquerade” a new signature drink just in time for Eva’s 25th birthday….

Jay-Z & Alicia Keys Headed to the World Series
