The U.S. Women’s Gymnastics team has just won its second gold medal EVER at the 2012 London Olympics!

Jordyn Wieber, Gaby Douglas, Alexandra Raisman, Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney finished first with a score of 183.596. Russia came in second with 178.530, and Romania was third with 176.414. This is the first time the the gold medal has been brought home for women’s gymnastics since the “Magnificent Seven” back in 1996.

Call them the “Fab Five” or the Fierce Five” but these girls earned these medals together and deserve to enjoy every second of this moment!

Congrats!!!! Go Team USA!!!

During the holiday season, we always try to give back and on Thursday NBC, WBLS and WOR-AM teamed up with City Harvest for NBC 4 New York’s 2nd Annual Day of Giving. We broadcasted live for the day long telethon and hosted celebrities and local dignitaries as they talked about the importance of giving. Kandi Burruss from “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Grizz Chapman from 30 Rock,” former NY governor David Paterson, Sarah Gore of NBC 4 and more stopped by to chat.

All proceeds raised will benefit City Harvest, the world’s first food rescue organization feeding the hungry of NYC.

Singer Willow Smith has been invited by the President and First Lady to perform at the 133rd Annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday, April 25th!

Actress and host Kelly Ripa along with hubby Mark Consuelos will read to the kids after the hunt. Other celebrity guests include Olympic skater Kristy Yamaguchi, actor John Lithgow, and actress Geena Davis. Pop singer Colbie Caillat will sing the National Anthem.

The event is the largest public event held at the White House and will include 30,000 invited guests. Wow! That is quite an honor at such a young age. I’m sure Will and Jada are so proud.

Solange Knowles showcased her DJ skills this weekend at the Roberto Cavalli Trunk Show……

On Friday Solange attended Cavalli’s “Black Is Never Absolute” trunk show at the freestanding Roberto Cavalli boutique in Vegas.

Along with Cavalli’s trunk show for his high-end pieces, Solange provided sounds on the 1′s and 2′s in the midst of the event.

Speaking on her time at the Cavalli event Solange tweeted,

Dj’n the Roberto Cavalli trunk show in Vegas. Wearing a dress I don’t want to ever part with.”

This past weekend I attended the Pursuit of Dreams’ 2011 Minority Mentorship Symposium, founded by the lovely Coach Beverly Kearney on the campus of Texas University in Austin, Texas. The weekend featured distinguished individuals from the sports, entertainment, corporate, political and academic arenas from around the country. If you are not familiar with Bev, she is one of the most successful and decorated coaches across all of collegiate athletics, Beverly Kearney is in her 18th season as the women’s track and field and cross country head coach at The University of Texas. Not to mention she taught herself how to walk again after a paralyzing car accident back in 2002. Phenomenal Lady!!!

I was honored, along with several other women, receiving the Divine Diva award from Bev’s “Pursuit of Dreams” Foundation for our philanthropic efforts and distinguished careers.

The legendary Eddie Levert also stopped by to show his support.

MC Lyte, Bev, and LeToya Luckett were there and struck a pose with Cookie Johnson at her Neiman Marcus in-store for her chic jean clothing line.

Here I am speaking at a pep rally for 2000 kids…..

To close off the weekend, we all partied at Bev’s house where Tank and Letoya Luckett performed. Check it out…..
