Word on the block is that Mike Epps has been real salty about Eddie Murphy playing the role of Richard Pryor in the new movie that he just finished shooting. If this doesn’t confirm the riff I don’t know what does…

In a recent interview with entertainment journalist Jawn Murray, when asked about Eddie portraying Richard Pryor in the upcoming biopic, Mike Epps said, “No disrespect, but I sat with Richard Pryor for an entire year, and he hand-picked me to play that role.” Will he ultimately play Richard in another film? “I believe that Richard’s spirit will determine that.”

So I guess Richard Pryor’s family must have sold Eddie the rights to do the movie unless its an unofficial version. Either way its kind of foul to go against a dead man’s wishes. Richard Pryor struck me as the kinda dude that would come back and haunt a mofo for some shyt like that. 

I attended the Mike Tyson Movie Premiere last night at the AMC in Manhattan. The documentary style film hits theatres this Friday in NY and LA. Its actually a very good film. Shouts to Carmelo Anthony and Nas for their involvement in the film production. And thanks to photographer Ronnie Wright for sending these pictures over….

Noted producer/talent George Lucas has put together a diverse cast for the anticipated World War II action/adventure ‘Red Tails’ that not only includes Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ne-Yo but both Terrence Howard and Hip Hop veteran Method Man!

The trio, noted for their roles in other films including ‘Stomp The Yard’ and ‘Hustle & Flow’ will be joined by Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston, Nate Parker, Elijah Kelly, Jesse Williams, Tristan Wilds (90210, The Wire), David Oyelowo and Lee Teregesen to name a few.

In the event that the Tuskegee Airmen were overlooked in your history textbook, as they often are breezed over, the group of young men from Tuskegee, Alabama became the first African American fighter pilots in the U.S. Military. In fact, their planes featured red painted tails — thus the title “Red Tails”.

According to Variety, “Red Tails” is slated to be shot in Europe this year and will likely hit theaters in mid-late 2010.

George Lucas, also known for “Star Wars,” recently conveyed excitement over the forthcoming picture:

“I’ve been wanting to do ‘Red Tails’ for 20 years, and we’ve finally got the means to showcase the skill of the Tuskegee pilots,” Lucas tells Variety. “We’reworking on techniques which will give us the first true look at the aerial dogfighting of the era.”

Word on the street is that Grammy-nominated R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan is also slated to make her acting debut in the film centered around the young pilots’ struggle to overcome institutional racism in the early 1940s.

The second Sex and the City movie may not be as big as the first.

I’m sure the box office will be just as major, but I’m told there’s been a delay in getting Mr. Big to agree to return.

While no start date to shoot the movie has been decided, one source tells me that Chris Noth has yet to sign on because of “scheduling problems.”

However, another source says…

Timing may not be the issue. Quite simply, Noth and New Line Cinema are still negotiating his paycheck in talks.

As I first reported in February, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis are set to reprise their roles, along with writer-director Michael Patrick King.

New Line announced earlier this week that SATC II will hit theaters May 28, 2010.

But there’s going to be some inventive storytelling happening if Mr. Big isn’t around for the sophomore effort. The last we saw, Carrie married Mr. Big even after he first left her at the altar.

Lou Rawls‘ life story will be turned into a movie. The Hollywood Reporter says that former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Isaiah Washington will play the late soul and jazz star and voice actor. A production company has purchased a script penned by Lou Rawls Junior that’s said to be an uncensored take on the onetime gospel singer and protege of Sam Cooke who became a nightclub star.

This comes just in the nick of time for Isaiah considering news dropped two days ago about a possible eviction from his home. So what do you think? Is Isaiah a good choice to play Lou Rawls or should they have picked someone else?
