Presidential hopeful Wyclef Jean has received several death threats since the announcement of his run for office. Wyclef believes the death threats “come with the territory” and homeboy is not going to let such foolishness stop his pursuit of becoming Haiti’s next President.

In a recent interview with BBC, Wyclef says:

In the past couple of days we have received a few death threats. Just for our safety we came to an area where we feel is secured – that is my town. We’re in an area where we’re comfortable, the area where we were at before, we weren’t comfortable. We know this situation we’ve embarked on, death threats come with the territory. But beyond that it’s not about all those negative information.

Despite death threats, it’s rumored that Wyclef may not be qualified to run because of his residency status. The Haitian constitution requires that presidential candidates must reside in the country for five consecutive years before an election. However, Wyclef is convinced that his work as an “ambassador” for current president, Rene Preval, qualifies him to run.

 The issue of residency, we have proof, five years,” he told the BBC. “Every piece of paper that the commission, the electoral council have asked for, we have delivered. So by law, we have everything. If after Friday we’re not approved I will continue doing what I’ve been doing in Haiti. We’ll be respected as a political force. The important thing is I hope we can be part of the big plan.

Wyclef’s camp confirmed that he’s submitted his papers to run in the Nov. 28th election and the fam has expressed their full support. POW!

Now we all no that ‘Clef is very proactive when it comes to his native land, but president, really??? Does he even meet the criteria, I mean he’s been a US citizen since childhood.

First Lady Michelle Obama has relaunched a Presidential Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition… She is trying to combat the rampant epidemic of obesity growth in American households. Michelle’s relaunch has added another component of the initial Council Fitness campaign, with focus shifting on nutrition to eat healthier.

Mrs. Obama announced:

“We’re spending billions of dollars on treating obesity-related conditions and we can’t afford to keep going down this road…I urge Congress to provide the resources we’re going to need to support these important programs. This is an important time. Our goal is to end the epidemic of childhood obesity in a generation.”

To show that she was serious, Michelle, alongside some of the star council members including gymnast Dominique Dawes, figure skater Michelle Kwan and NASCAR driver Carl Edwards, began jumping rope with some local students in Washington, DC. Pop the top to check out the pics…

This must be the season of separation…Former Vice President Al Gore and wife Tipper have separated. The couple, who’ve been married 40 years and have four children together, announced their separation today.

No word on what the intricate details of the split are, but the Gores have released a statement about the marriage:

“A mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration.”

It seems to be pretty amicable now, let’s just pray that it remains this way….
