“Sad But True”

Bobby Brown Checks Out Of Rehab Early

After three short weeks, recent reports claim that Bobby Brown has left the rehab facility where he was being treated for alcohol abuse. Back in March, Brown was arrested for DUI and agreed to go to rehab as a part of his plea deal. His newlywed wife, Alicia Etheridge, confirmed the news and said that the family is “supportive and proud.” She also stated that Bobby has graduated and didn’t leave the facility early.

However, another source close to the family released a statement:

Bobby is no longer in rehab, he decided he’s had enough treatment for his problems. When he first checked in, he promised his family and friends, including his New Edition band mates, that this time he was going to stay in rehab for the full treatment. That’s normally a 90-day program. However, after fulfilling his duties for his DUI plea deal, Bobby has decided that he doesn’t need treatment anymore.”

The source continued,

They’re not sure if he was ever serious about conquering his demons and have voiced their concerns. It’s difficult to believe someone going into rehab for alcohol addiction for such a short time is genuine about giving up drinking.”

What do you think? Did Bobby Graduate from the program in 3 weeks or has he left the facility early?

Rodney King’s ‘Accidental Drowning’ Involved Drugs

The coroner has released the report on Rodney King’s death, which was ruled as an accidental drowning. He had a mixture of alcohol and drugs in his system.

King died in his backyard pool on June 17th with alcohol, cocaine, marijuana and PCP in his system, according to the San Bernardino County coroner’s office. Those drugs, combined with a heart condition, led King into cardiac arrhythmia. His blood alcohol level was 0.06. The report stated,

He was in a state of drug- and alcohol-induced delirium at the time of the terminal event and either fell or jumped into the swimming pool.”

It had always been a struggle with drugs and alcohol for King. He appeared on VH1′s “Celebrity Rehab” last year to try and beat alcoholism.

King’s fiancee, Cynthia Kelley, had called 911 after she found King at the bottom of the pool. She told them she couldn’t save him because she can’t swim. Once police got there they said that there were were no initial “outward signs” of alcohol or drug use, but did confiscate what appeared to be marijuana plants. They also said King’s body showed no signs of trauma and no traces of blood were found around or in the pool. A neighbor said she had heard King crying in the backyard earlier in the night and Kelley trying to get him back into the house. Then there was a splash.

The Los Angeles riots in 1992 were provoked by King’s beating by the police in 1991. King was awarded with a $3.8 million settlement.

George Zimmerman Wishes He Didn’t Kill Trayvon Martin, But Says It Was “God’s Plan”

George Zimmerman, the accused man in the murder of Trayvon Martin, said the whole “experience” has really opened his eyes to a lot but said he wouldn’t have done anything differently that night.

Back in February, Zimmerman, a 28-year-old neighborhood watch coordinator, shot and killed an unarmed 17-year-old Martin. Zimmerman says Trayvon was acting suspiciously and has claimed self defense. In April he was charged with second degree murder, to which he plead not guilty to.

In his first interview since the incident, Zimmerman told Fox News’ Sean Hannity,

When I was in jail, I was in solitary confinement and I had a lot of time to think and reflect. It’s a tragic situation and I hope it’s the most difficult thing I’ll have to go through in my life.

I feel that it was all God’s plan. I do wish that there was something, anything I could have done that would have put me in the position that I wouldn’t have to take his life. I’m sorry that this happened. I hate to think that because of this incident, because of my actions, that it’s polarized and divided America.”

Zimmerman did offer his condolences to Martin’s family.

I am sorry that they buried their child. I can’t imagine what it must feel like. I pray for them daily.”

This morning, Martin’s mom and dad were on the Today ShowCBS This Morning, and Fox & Friends to express their disgust with Zimmerman’s interview. Sybina Fulton said,

Why would God have him to kill an unarmed teenager? I mean, it just makes no sense. What plan is it? I mean, that’s just heartless to say that that was God’s plan that he took our child’s life.”

Currently, Zimmerman is free on bond and is awaiting trial.
