Celebs Support Russell Simmons ‘Art for Life’ Charity Event

This weekend Russell Simmons hosted his annual Art for Life fundraiser at his East Hampton, New York home and dozens of his celebrity friends showed up to support Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, which gives underprivileged children better access to arts programs. Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, and Tyler Perry are just a few of the celebs that came out to show support and help raise raise over $2 million, to benefit and directly serve over 2,300 students each year.

This year’s event honored Mariah and Nick, as well as Tamia and Grant Hill (The Grant Hill Foundation), and others. CNN’s Soledad O’Brien hosted the evening, while Star Jones led the Rush Kids Auction. Musical performances included Anita Baker, Salt-N-Pepa, Melanie Fiona and Diggy Simmons.

Some of the top donators were Perry, who graciously donated $100,000, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Spotted on the red carpet were Tika Sumpter, Rocsi Diaz, and of course, the entire Simmons family including Angela, Diggy and Rev Run.

With tables beginning at $15,000, Proceeds from ‘Art For Life’ will go to the Foundation’s arts education and gallery programs.
