The Full Scoop: Rihanna Finally Speaks

In her first television interview since she was assaulted by Chris Brown, Rihanna says it was “humiliating” and “traumatizing” to admit the incident happened and that it was “wrong” of her to take Brown back.”That’s embarrassing that that’s the type of person that I fell in love with,” the singer, 21, told Diane Sawyer on ABC’s Good Morning America Thursday (the entire interview airs Friday on 20/20).
“So far in love. So unconditional that I went back. It’s humiliating to say this happened. To accept that? It’s a traumatizing experience.”During the interview, she confirmed that Brown, 20, held her in a headlock twice and bit her on the ear and fingers the night before the Grammys.”I stayed. I even went back after he beat me, which was wrong,” Rihanna said. “But again … I’m a human being and people put me on a very unrealistic pedestal. And all these expectations, I’m not perfect.”Rihanna – who drops a new album, Rated R, Nov. 23 – said she wanted to speak out now to help others who may be in a similar situation.”It’s completely normal to go back. It’s not right. I learned the hard way, but again, this is what I want people to know,” she said. “When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result in some young girl getting killed, I could not be easy with that part. I couldn’t be held responsible for going back.”Even if Chris never hit me again, who is to say that their boyfriend won’t? Who’s to say that they won’t kill these girls?” she went on. “These are young girls and I just didn’t realize how much of an impact I had on these girls’ lives until that happened.”Rihanna said the past few months have been one of the “most lonely times” for her because “nobody understands what it’s like.”Said the singer, “There are a lot of women who’ve experienced what I did, but not in the public. So it made it really difficult. I just felt like, ‘Oh my God, here it goes, my little bit of privacy.’”
Meanwhile,Chris Brown — who was sentenced to five years of probation, six months of community service and one year of domestic violence counseling in August — tells MTV News in a new interview that he still doesn’t understand his actions.
“My thoughts [when I look back on it now] is like, ‘Why did it happen?’ Like, ‘What was I thinking? What is wrong with you?’ That’s what I’m thinking with myself. That’s what my thoughts are, basically, now,” says the R&B musician.,He said he is ready to move on “It’s like, ‘How do we get past it? How do you, Chris’ – talking to myself – ‘how do you go from point A to point B? How do you learn from your mistakes, turn it into a positive and help other people with the situation, and at the end of the day become the person that you want to be?’

I am so tired of hearing about the incident that went down between CB & RiRi. Don’t get me wrong I’m against domestic abuse. However, their are women as well as men that are abused on a daily basis experiencing far worse mental, emotional, and physical situtations than this.
Over the past few years, the entertianment industry has allowed the media to take every situation to the extreme. Where is the respect and privacy? This situation has been blown well out of porportion.
It is well understood that she wants to speak out. However, is she speaking on her negative and/or abusive actions towards CB that has continuosly been overlooked and swept under the rug?
At this point, this interview is being done to sell her upcoming CD. It is a known fact the CB’s CD’s have broken numbers and has sold extremely well. Why hurt his career just to market yours?
As RiRi is not little miss innocent, they both need counseling and healing in order to get past this incident.
We have far more serious situations to be focussing on to save the future generations!
I’m glad she has finally decided to speak out but I can’t help but to think that its all apart of her promoting her new album..

I feel all the comments I’ve read so far. How is she gonna comment now, conveniently when Chris brown’s album is getting ready to drop now? God don’t like ugly, and I feel like this was a very ugly trick that she’s trying to play on him, and she still wants to be with him. It’s not like she’ showing a strong woman model for other women. Its good she’s speaking out to help young girls (who may actually look up to her) understand that you should NEVER tolerate abuse on any level. However, I agree with everyone else. While its always a good time to take a stand against domestic violence, I think she waited for the release of her upcoming album to: play the sympathy card, and promote her album. And of course this will definitely take away from Chris’ sales, he will be a monster all over again. It was wrong but they both need to grow from the situation and move on.

Chris Brown has been doing interviews and bringing attention to himself for months. Isn’t he also promoting an album and trying to get into the good graces of his fans, why isn’t he being called out for that? At least she’s providing insight into he psyche and what happened. That’s more than what he’s done, he been inarticulately dipping and dodging the tough questions. Unless you know what it’s like you can’t judge. You don’t know what it had to take for her to be able to speak about this. I’m sure if she would have talked about it right away people would have something to say about that. You have to remember that this had to go through the judicial system so no one could talk about it right away. And another thing, we as a society should not look up to celebrities for moral validity, we have our own houses to clean up.
