Jail Talk: Lil Wayne & T.I.
A preliminary hearing relating to felony gun possession charges against Lil Wayne got underway yesterday in New York. The hearing is drawing national attention as a highly advanced D-N-A identification technique called low copy number D-N-A profiling is being used to link Wayne to the weapon. This hearing is a debate over the scientific validity of the D-N-A technique.
Weezy has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which carry a minimum three-and-a-half-year sentence if he’s convicted. The charges stem from a 2007 incident in which a gun was found on the rapper’s bus. Wayne insists the gun is not his. The actual trial is due to start on January 20th.

Lil Wayne wound up pleading guilty to attempted weapons possession in a Manhattan courthouse just hours ago. These charges are from an ‘07 bust where he was caught with a gun in his bag after his tour bus was pulled over in NY. Rumor has it Weezy has a plea deal that will only give him 8 months in jail in exchange for his guilty plea.
Speaking of brothers getting locked down, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle says her man T-I is managing prison life well. She tells AllHipHop.com:
“He’s doing good. He’s passing the time by working out and just doing things they do inside, you know… I go see him every Sunday, sometimes on Mondays. We talk every day. He gets E-mails, working out and doing things like that, so he’s busy in there. He has a full schedule.” Tip’s scheduled to be released from prison in March.

Tiny says with the recent violent occurrences in her inner circle — the deaths of Ashley “A-J” Jewell this month and former boxing champion Vernon Forrest in July — T-I’s has warned her to stay low.
“He wants me to stay out the way, me being out of harm’s way. I know it’s a lot of crazy things going on, so I try to stay in as much as possible because I don’t have him here. So I come out only when it’s necessary.”
A judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit filed in North Carolina against The Game. The suit stems from an incident in October 2005 at the FourSeasonsTowneCenter in Greensboro in which the rapper was pepper-sprayed by police and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. The original lawsuit was dismissed in 2008, but the officers appealed their case, which was again dismissed on Tuesday.
