50 Cent Addresses Low Album Sales
50 Cent says leaks and bad timing are to blame for the lackluster first-week sales of his latest disc, Before I Self Destruct, which moved only about 160-thousand copies.
Speaking with a satellite radio show last week, he said, “I look at the numbers and am like, ‘What is this?’ I’ve already assessed that the album has been out a month before its actual release period [which was prompted by an online leak]. So when you got that, you go, ‘Well, what did you actually expect?’”
Still it’s got to be a blow to his ego — since 2003, 50 has consistently opened atop the Billboard 200 albums chart with sales of no less than 500-thousand copies.
50′s rivals are taking the opportunity to rub it in his face. At a recent concert for D-J Khaled’s birthday, Rick Ross told the crowd, “We’re celebrating [50's] demise. R-I-P to the donkey, we buried him.”
Speaking of albums, Sony confirms that Sade is in fact prepping a new disc, Soldier of Love, set for release February 8th. The follow-up to the band’s last effort, Lovers Rock, is their first new offering in a decade. It’s only Sade’s sixth studio album in a 25 year career. She’s been M.I.A. for almost a decade.
Lovers Rock reached number-three on the Billboard 200

Not shocking about 50! His albums always have hard hitting debut singles but Baby By Me didnt have the same impact as In Da Club. Disco Inferno/Candy Shop or I Get Money!
As for Sade, I know I might be askin much but, I hope she has a HUGE First Week like Maxwell did! No disrespect to Maxwell, but I’m still shocked by how well his sales did, with his hiatus & all!
Agree With KB… But Is it just me, or does 50 Cent look EXTRA Photoshop’d in that AD.. Hmm… Just Sayin’
