Frank Ocean Debuts At No. 2 On Billboard 200

There has been a lot of controversy and headlines surrounding Frank Ocean the past few weeks, but it looks like he has come out on top. His first official album, Channel Orange, will debut at number two on the Billboard 200, having sold 131,000 copies.

The LP was schedule to drop July 17th, but Ocean released it a week early via iTunes. Rumors were swirling about his sexuality and he decided to post an open letter on his Tumblr account, in which he confessed he did indeed fall in love at the age of 19, with another man. He wrote,

I feel like a free man. On the days we were together, time would glide… By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless. There was no escaping, no negotiating with the feeling. No choice. It was my first love, it changed my life.”

He received immediate support from some of his music peers including Jay-Z and Beyonce, both of whom he has worked with on tracks.

Congrats on your success!!! I am sure there is much more to come. And I salute you for the courage you have displayed to be so open with the public, who is always quick to judge one another.
