The Twittersphere is mourning the death of former ‘Moesha’ & ‘The Parkers’ star Yvette Wilson, who played Andell Wilkerson. On June 14, 2012 Yvette lost her long battle with cervical cancer, passing away at the age of 48-years-old.
Wilson had been suffering from Stage 4 Cervical Cancer. However, this isn’t her first battle against a serious health related issue. The comedian also experienced kidney failure, and kidney transplants. After being in remission, the cancer came back, and doctors predicted it would be very aggressive this time out for Wilson. To get her the required treatment at the best doctors, and to help cover travel and medical costs, her good friend Jeffrey Pittle, a fellow stage 4 cancer survivor, created the Cancer Sucks movement, a website where people donated money to help Wilson pay her mounting medical bills. “She’s brought so much laughter to so many people – it’s time we step up and support Yvette and let her feel some of that love she’s so used to giving, come back to her ten-fold,” said Jeffery. The medical fund site raised $13,599 (54% of its original 25,000 goal).
Friends of Wilson have been expressing their sympathy for her loss on Twitter:
