NBA FINALS: Basketball Is A TEAM Game
In the NBA just as in most professional leagues, the stars get all the press and all the blame. But in addition to its stars, a team needs role players or even more than 1 star. The Bulls had Jordan and Pippen, The Lakers had Shaq and Kobe, the Celtics had Pierce, Allen, and Garnett, and all these teams won championships. This point was highlighted BIG time last night when the Nuggets destroyed the Lakers 120-101 with Carmelo Anthony having his worse game of the playoffs. Chauncey Billups, J.R. Smith, and Chris “Birdman” Anderson all stepped up while the Lakers role players didn’t. Kobe Bryant did what he always does but his team didn’t play well at all.
Tonight the Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Orlando Magic with their backs against the wall. Lebron James is averaging over 40 points in the series but the rest of his team has played terribly, and without his miracle shot at the end of Game 2 this series would effectively be over. The fans will most likely blame Lebron, but it’s not him that is the problem. Mo Williams and Delonte West have played awful after playing great in the first two rounds.
If you want to know who will win the game tonight and eventually the series, then don’t look at the superstars look at EVERYONE else.
