NY Yankees are World Champions!!!
The New York Yankees won their record 27th championship last night over the Philadelphia Phillies. The Yankees defeated the Phillies 7-3 to win the series in 6 games. Hideki Matsui was named World Series MVP, the 1st Japanese player to achieve that. This was another star studded affair with Kirk Russell, Kate Hudson, and former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani among others in attendance. The ratings for last night’s game are not available but this has been the highest rated World Series in a decade.
I am a Phillies fan but I have to take my hat off to the Yankees; they were the best team all regular season and the best team in the end. I am also very happy for Alex Rodriguez who for years has been hated despite the fact that he is the best player in baseball. He carried the Yankees at times this postseason and showed that he can be a big time player in the big moments. This was the 5th championship for Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada and Andy Petite.
