Robin Thicke Speaks On Being A Father & Unconditional Love
Father’s Day is around the corner…..and Robin Thicke has something to smile about.

At first Robin had a few jitters about the idea of being a daddy:
I’m afraid of not being patient enough, but most of the time that’s when I’m scared or worried about the future. I want to work on that. My biggest fear is being able to be there, because I don’t know if kids ever think their parents were there enough.
All that has now changed since Robin and wife Paula Patton welcomed little Julian back in April. In a recent interview with Essence, Robin talks about what it means to celebrate his first official Father’s Day.
ESSENCE: It’s your first Father’s Day, how has fatherhood been? What are some of the best moments you’ve experienced since Julian was born?
THICKE: All the songs that are pouring out of me. Every time I’m with him, or see him, it brings up so many new thoughts and feelings in me. I’ve been writing, because there are some amazing things I want to talk about, and they are all coming out of me at an amazing pace. Some of the best moments are when I am holding him, and I start singing my new songs to him …if he cries, I change it.
ESSENCE: (Laughs) Your own little focus group…
THICKE: Yes, and if it soothes him, I go ahead with it. The next album will be a really soothing album, that’s for sure.
ESSENCE: What would be the one thing you personally weren’t expecting from this new life?
THICKE: I didn’t expect it to mean so much. I can’t define this love, it’s a new love. It’s not like being in relationship with someone where love grows and grows. As soon as your baby is born, you’re just in love for the rest of your life.
ESSENCE: What are some of the things you’ve learned from your own father, Alan Thicke?
THICKE: To save some money (laughs).
ESSENCE: Many are familiar with the expression, ‘a Mother’s Love.’ Define what ‘a Father’s Love’ is.
THICKE: Not sure how to define love for every father, but for me the definition of a father’s love is unconditional love.
