Gabrielle Union & Dwayne Wade Cover February Issue Of ESSENCE Magazine

The hot and sexy power couple, actress Gabrielle Union and Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade, cover the February issue of ESSENCE magazine.

The two posed for intimate photos and told the mag that their relationship is going great as is and they’re in no rush to take it to the next level just yet.

We’re not rushing it. Both of us have been married before, and we understand that if we choose to marry again, we want it to be right. We both took failing at marriage hard. The next time it’s gotta be forever…”–Dwayne Wade

Gabrielle was previously in a 5-year marriage to former running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chris Howard, which ended in 2006, and Wade had an 8-year marriage to his highschool sweetheart, Siohvaughn Wade, which ended in 2010.

Both are very successful in their careers, but being in the public eye always causes the rumor mill to turn. The lovebirds explain to the magazine how their love conquers above all of the rumors and hoopla surrounding their relationship.

You can read their full interview when the February issue of ESSENCE hits stands January 12th.

Queen Latifah Rocks The Cover Of Essence

Actress, singer, spokesmodel, rapper, producer. Queen Latifah does it all.

She has 7 studio albums and over 30 films under her belt and shows no sign of slowing down as she’s getting ready to launch her daytime talk show in 2013. Things weren’t always great for her. Dana Hill grew up in the streets of Newark, overcame many obstacles in her life, and has risen to fame. She’s become a very respected and recognizable figure in the entertainment industry. But Latifah says she is her own person and don’t compare her to anyone else.

…People say I’m going to be the next Oprah. No. Oprah is still Oprah. I’ll be the next me. I feel like there’s always a lane for me as long as I’m true to myself…”

Michelle Obama Speaks Out In ESSENCE Magazine

First Lady Michelle Obama graces the cover of ESSENCE magazine’s October issue. Not only does our First Lady look AMAZING, but she also states a message to all women and young girls around the world. In this article, Mrs. Obama shares more then just a pretty smile…she fills the pages with words of wisdom.

My story to young people around this country and around the world is: Don’t look at me as the First Lady first; look at me as Michelle Obama, a girl who grew up on the South Side of Chicago. Because I was there, and this is attainable. There is no magic to this. It is hard work….”

She also speaks on her personal everyday obstacles.

On needing her girlfriends:

Women energize me. My husband is terrific. He is my true partner. Spending time with him is key…. But it’s also important for us as women to find each other. And there’s that natural reenergizing that happens when women get together. We kind of hold each other up.”

On finding balance and teaching it to her daughters:

If we don’t have the energy, we can’t pass it on. I learned it from watching my own mother (Marian Robinson) not invest in herself, for example. She’s starting to do that. But she came from the tradition of family first. She wouldn’t even go to the hairdresser on a regular basis. I want to show my girls that it is perfectly fine to invest in yourself and to start to do it early, embrace it and not feel guilty about the time we put into ourselves.”

Michelle Obama is more then a First Lady. She is a role model that many females look up to.

Viola Davis Covers Essence Magazine

Oscar nominated actress Viola Davis shines as the cover girl for the August issue of Essence Magazine. The gorgeous star of the upcoming summer film, “The Help,” which hits theaters August 12th, chats it up with Essence about the struggles facing today’s black women, her new movie and more.

As Black women, we’re always given these seemingly devastating experiences — experiences that could absolutely break us. But what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly. What we do as Black women is take the worst situations and create from that point…”

Essence also sent out a press release announcing their latest cover star:

Award-winning actress Viola Davis is having the time of her life as one of Hollywood’s hottest stars. Despite her evident radiance and mind-blowing talent, she has had to come to grips with a culture that seldom makes dark-skinned women feel like “the chosen one.” However, during her recent successes—including her Oscar nominated performance in the film Doubt—she feels more like a “princess” now than ever before. As she anticipates the release of her new movie, The Help, Davis shares her story of growth and acceptance with writer Lola Ogunnaike.”
