Inmates Shackled While Giving Birth
In Chicago, twenty former inmates are suing the sherrif’s office with allegations that they had to give birth while restrained. Ladies and gents we’re talking about handcuffs and leg shackles!
In defense, the sheriff’s spokesman stated that women are allowed to be restrained until labor begins, with the supervision of medical personnel. However the womeen, whom most are nonviolent offenders, said the restraints were taken off wayyyyyy to late, if at all!
One inmate recalls:
I couldn’t push the placenta out because I couldn’t position my legs. It is not fair to treat a person like this. I did a crime … but I’m not willing to be treated like a dog. I was treated like I wasn’t human.
Can you believe this ish??? Did the guards think that the women were really going to escape? Imagine that…a woman in labor scaling a fence and dodging security guards all while in labor! Ugh…PUH-LLEAAEESE!
