Jordin Sparks Tributes Whitney Houston At The 2012 Billboard Music Awards; Bobbi Kristina’s Tearful Speech
Last night at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, the late and the great Whitney Houston was honored with a moving tribute. Singer John Legend sang “The Greatest Love of All,” while her “Sparkle” co-star, Jordin Sparks, sang a beautiful rendition of ” I Will Always Love You.” Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was moved to tears by the performances.
The 19-year-old then gratefully accepted the Billboard Millennium Award on her mother’s behalf. She was joined onstage by her aunt-in-law, Pat Houston, who said,
This is truly an honor. We thank you for honoring Whitney with the Millennium Award. We thank you Billboard, we thank you Whoopi, Jordin, John… but tonight, the one person that should be accepting this award is the one person that Whitney loved most and treasured most – her daughter Bobbi.”
She then passed over the mic to Bobbi, who gave a short but heartfelt speech.
I really want to say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all. Not just from when it was good but when it was bad, too. Thank you for showing that much love, because she deserved it,” Bobbi Kristina continued. “I’m just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman’s life. There will never be another one, ever.”
