Joan Rivers Calls Michelle Obama “Blackie-O”
Earlier this week, Joan Rivers teased that Michelle Obama is the new “Blackie O.” The media personality coined the term because of the 1st lady’s sense of style. Rivers said she refrained from telling the joke on stage because she didn’t was to be called a racist, but somehow she felt as if it was “ok” to say it on satellite radio. While some chuckled, many couldn’t help but to give the side eye.

Now before we jump the gun, let’s talk about this here. Dozens of US media outlets have spotlighted Michelle Obama’s fashionable clothing. As the first lady, many have referred to her as the modern day “Jackie O.”
With that being said, was it wrong for Joan to call Mrs. Obama “Blackie O?” Are we being too sensitive? Better yet, would it be different if Oprah said it?
